“Study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in.”
― Leonardo da Vinci
Welcome!
My name is Meghan Murphy and I am a Grand Valley State University alumni who graduated in April of 2017 in the state of Michigan. I am a certified K-8 teacher with mathematics and education as my two majors.
*Note that I am certified K-9 in the state of Illinois. My fiance and I moved to Illinois in January of 2018 due to a job offer he received. We are excited to announce that we are getting married in July of 2019!
Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was five years old. Besides tutoring on many occasions, I have teacher assisted for a 3rd grade classroom for Kentwood Public Schools and student taught for a 5th grade classroom for Grandville Public Schools, both in Michigan. I have also taken positions such as an after-school enrichment instructor for Allendale Public Schools, both an academic interventionist and an autism academic interventionist for Kentwood Public Schools, and most recently a permanent building substitute teacher for the Community Unit School District 200 in Wheaton, IL. Anyone who has seen me teach knows that I am a natural in any classroom.
While I am fantastic in the subject area of math, I am also talented in other areas like art as well as choir in which I was a part of for 9 years. In the summer you might find me with a bow and arrow as I have found a new talent for target archery.
Included on this page is my Philosophy of Education that I wrote in my final year of college. If you have any questions, comments or concerns you may contact me below. Feel free to take a look around. Enjoy!
